A viral video showing social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), and comedian Freedom Atsepoyi, known as Mr Jollof, exchanging blows aboard a commercial flight has triggered an official investigation by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

The footage, which spread widely on Monday, captured the pair involved in a physical clash mid-air, prompting widespread public concern over passenger safety and aviation security. The confrontation marks a dramatic escalation of a long-running feud between both men.

Their conflict had previously played out online after VDM made controversial remarks involving Jollof’s wife, accusing her of inappropriate relationships — allegations that intensified hostilities and fueled their ongoing social media battles.

Following the latest incident, NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, took to X to request full details of the flight. He appealed for information about the airline involved and the date of the altercation to support an immediate investigation into the conduct of the two passengers.

Achimugu’s message signaled the seriousness with which the aviation regulator is treating the situation, with officials emphasising that behaviour threatening order or safety on a flight is a violation of aviation regulations.

Both VDM and Jollof could face significant penalties if found culpable. Potential sanctions include hefty fines, suspension from flying with Nigerian carriers, and other disciplinary measures designed to deter disruptive behaviour aboard aircraft.

As of the time of filing this report, neither party has publicly commented on the NCAA’s call for details, though the incident continues to generate intense online reactions and calls for stricter enforcement of in-flight conduct rules.
