JAMB Proposes March 2027 UTME, August Results Target Under Harmonised Exam Timetable

The Federal Government has proposed a harmonised timetable for Nigeria’s 2027 examinations, with the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scheduled for March and results from major examination bodies targeted for release in August.
The plan is intended to reduce timetable clashes, improve coordination among examination bodies and allow eligible candidates to begin tertiary admission processes by September 2027. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced the proposed schedule on its social media platforms on Thursday.
Under the proposed timetable, the UTME will hold from March 15 to 25, 2027. The National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination is scheduled to run from April 1 to May 14.
The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), is proposed for May 11 to June 18. This period overlaps with the proposed NECO examination dates, although the supplied report does not specify how the examination bodies intend to manage any potential clashes.
The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) examination is scheduled for June 1 to July 5, while the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) examination is proposed for June 10 to July 9.
JAMB said the Federal Government was working with the examination bodies to align the timetable and ensure results were processed and released on time. The proposed August results target is expected to give eligible candidates time to meet admission requirements ahead of the September 2027 target.
The initiative has four stated objectives: minimising examination timetable clashes, improving coordination among examination bodies, ensuring timely processing and release of results, and enabling eligible candidates to begin tertiary admission processes by September 2027.
However, JAMB stressed that the dates remain proposals rather than confirmed final schedules. Candidates are advised to follow official announcements from JAMB, NECO, WAEC, NABTEB and NBAIS for confirmation of examination dates and any subsequent changes.
