NANS Backs EFCC Operations in Ondo, Reaffirms Support for Fight Against Financial Crimes

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has declared its support for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), particularly the operations of its Ado-Ekiti Zonal Command in Akure, Ondo State.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by Adegoke Naheem Ademola, Chief of Staff to the NANS President, the students’ body said it supported the commission’s mandate to investigate, prevent and prosecute financial crimes across Nigeria.
Ademola said NANS remained committed to promoting accountability and building a society where fraud and other financial crimes are reduced. He stressed that students, as stakeholders in national development, had a responsibility to oppose financial misconduct.
“NANS is not against the activities of the EFCC,” Ademola said, reaffirming the association’s position on the commission’s operations.
He said the association recognised the EFCC’s statutory responsibilities and emphasised the importance of conducting investigations and prosecutions in line with the law. According to him, the fight against financial crimes is essential to Nigeria’s development and the protection of public trust.
Ademola specifically expressed support for the EFCC’s Ado-Ekiti Zonal Command and its activities in Akure, Ondo State. He said lawful efforts to tackle financial crimes could help strengthen accountability and discourage individuals from undermining the country’s financial integrity.
The NANS official added that the association would continue to support lawful initiatives aimed at reducing fraud and promoting responsible conduct. He maintained that accountability remained important for building confidence in public institutions.
The statement concluded with a call for continued efforts to combat financial crimes, with NANS reaffirming its support for the EFCC’s role in enforcing the law and protecting Nigeria’s financial integrity.
