Lisandro Martinez Apologises to Manchester United Leadership After Explosive Criticis.

Lisandro Martinez has apologised to Manchester United’s leadership following his public criticism of the club’s recruitment strategy and decision-makers. The Argentine defender reportedly held talks with manager Michael Carrick and senior officials at the Carrington training ground on Thursday, seeking to ease tensions after his comments following the Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Martinez attended a meeting with Carrick and members of the club’s leadership team to discuss his remarks. Although Manchester United have not publicly disclosed details of any disciplinary action, reports suggest the defender may have received a substantial fine over the controversy.

Following the meeting, Martinez issued a statement on Instagram expressing regret over how he handled his frustration. He described the discussions as positive and said both sides had the opportunity to exchange views openly about the incident.

“Today I met with the club’s leadership and the manager. It was a very positive conversation, where we were able to exchange views and speak openly about what happened after Tuesday’s game,” Martinez said.

The defender acknowledged that his emotions after the defeat had influenced his public comments. He said he regretted expressing his feelings at a time and in a setting that may not have been appropriate, adding that Manchester United perform best when everyone is united behind a common goal.

The dispute began during Martinez’s post-match interview with Amazon Prime, when he questioned whether the club had done enough to strengthen the squad during the summer transfer window. He argued that the team needed further investment to compete consistently against Europe’s strongest sides, despite the progress made during the previous campaign.

Martinez also directly criticised technical director Jason Wilcox when discussing recruitment. Asked whether he expected more from the club’s summer business, the defender replied: “I expected more, honestly. I expected more.” He subsequently confirmed that his comments were directed at the club’s recruitment and the need to build a stronger squad.

The apology appears intended to reduce tensions following the public disagreement. Martinez also recognised the efforts of people across Manchester United to achieve the club’s ambitions, although the full details of the Carrington meeting and any reported disciplinary measures have not been officially disclosed.
