Manchester United are reportedly preparing a move for Crysencio Summerville if Marcus Rashford leaves Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.

According to reports, the Red Devils have identified the Dutch winger as a suitable replacement for Rashford, with West Ham United believed to be willing to consider offers of around £30 million following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

Summerville, 24, is said to fit the profile United are looking for as they reshape their attacking options. The former Leeds United forward enjoyed a mixed campaign with West Ham but remains highly regarded for his pace, creativity and ability to play across the frontline.

Rashford, meanwhile, is expected to report back to Carrington after completing his summer break following the FIFA World Cup. Although he is due to rejoin Michael Carrick’s squad for pre-season, uncertainty continues to surround his long-term future.

The England international has spent the last 18 months away from Manchester United on loan following his highly publicised fallout with former manager Ruben Amorim. After a spell at Aston Villa, Rashford also enjoyed a season-long loan with Barcelona, helping the Spanish giants win the La Liga title.

However, Barcelona reportedly decided against activating the purchase option in his loan agreement, leaving the 28-year-old to return to United with two years remaining on his current contract.

His reported annual salary of £17.5 million is believed to be one of the biggest obstacles to a permanent transfer, with interested clubs reluctant to match his wages.

Summerville also impressed for the Netherlands during the FIFA World Cup, scoring two goals and providing two assists in four matches before Oranje were eliminated by Morocco in the Round of 32. Despite his international performances, his domestic campaign was less productive, finishing with five goals and two assists as West Ham suffered relegation.

Manchester United are expected to make further decisions on their attacking options in the coming weeks, with Rashford’s future likely to determine whether the club steps up its pursuit of Summerville.
