Deborah Mbara, the cancer survivor whose medical report was allegedly manipulated by social media influencer Blessing CEO, has broken her silence amid growing controversy.

The revelation comes after the Delta State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) confirmed that the medical document presented by Blessing CEO actually belonged to another patient. The NMA described the document as a “manipulated version” of Mbara’s report, allegedly altered to substantiate Blessing CEO’s claimed stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis.

The drama began in January when Blessing CEO publicly announced her breast cancer diagnosis and shared a medical report to solicit financial support. The report was said to have been issued by Xinus Medical Diagnostics and signed by consultant pathologist O.A. Odigwe. However, the diagnostics centre later clarified that the original report had been issued to Mbara in May 2025 and accused Blessing CEO of altering the document.

In a video shared on Instagram, Mbara, a makeup artist, recounted how Blessing allegedly obtained her report. She explained that Blessing had requested her cancer report to compare with her own diagnosis.

“Sometime last year, Blessing CEO was in Asaba, and I was her makeup artist,” Mbara said. “Fast forward to last week, she started crying that she had cancer and had sold off her properties. My friend and I even got a doctor on the call to educate and encourage her. She then said, ‘Zazi, can you please help me send the report of when you were diagnosed so I could compare it with the one my doctor gave me?’ I agreed, only to see it online on Friday being doctored to back up her claims and solicit donations.”

Mbara also refuted Blessing CEO’s public claims of not knowing her. “She said she doesn’t know me and has never spoken to my family, but she was in Asaba on Monday to beg my husband and family. My husband told her to tender a public apology and confess how everything happened,” she said.

Expressing her disappointment, Mbara added, “I thought I was helping someone in need, not knowing she had a different agenda. This is evil. I was traumatised by her action.” She called on the public to respect the truth and avoid spreading false narratives.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently stated that no formal petition has been filed against Blessing CEO, despite widespread outrage over the incident.
