President Bola Tinubu has expressed condolences to former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, who passed away in Lagos at the age of 62.
The President’s message was conveyed in a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Tinubu sympathised with the Adeosun family, friends and business associates, describing the late businessman as a man whose life was marked by faith, generosity and service to others.
Anthony Adeosun’s passing was earlier announced by the Adeosun family in a statement signed by Rev. C. A. Adeosun. According to the family, he died on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, and was remembered as a devoted Christian, businessman and family man whose integrity and compassion positively impacted many lives.
The family described him as someone who lived a life of hard work, unwavering faith and commitment to both his loved ones and the wider community. They appealed for prayers and support as they mourn what they called an irreplaceable loss.
President Tinubu noted the many tributes highlighting Anthony Adeosun’s dedication to charitable causes and his consistent support for the less privileged. He said the testimonies reflected a life devoted to community service and Christian values.
“The President condoles with the Adeosun family, friends and business associates over the loss, urging comfort in the legacies of steadfast faith, community service and charity that the devout Christian left behind,” the statement read.
The President also prayed that God would grant Kemi Adeosun and the entire Adeosun family the strength to bear the loss, while asking that the late Anthony Adeosun be granted eternal rest.
Anthony Adeosun is survived by his wife, former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, his children and other family members, including businessman Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital. The family said funeral and burial arrangements will be announced at a later date.
