Real Madrid have secured a major legal victory after a Madrid court dismissed criminal proceedings linked to concerts held at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
The Spanish giants confirmed that the Third Section of the Provincial Court of Madrid fully upheld appeals filed by the club’s general director, José Ángel Sánchez Periáñez, and Real Madrid Estadio S.L., effectively ending the criminal investigation against them.
The case stemmed from complaints filed by a neighbourhood association and several local residents over alleged breaches of environmental noise regulations during events hosted at the renovated stadium.
According to Real Madrid, the court ruled that neither Sánchez nor the club committed any criminal offence in relation to the concerts.
The judicial decision reportedly ordered the unconditional dismissal of proceedings involving both parties, bringing the criminal process to a definitive close.
In its ruling, the court stated that responsibility for complying with sound and decibel regulations lies primarily with the event promoter companies renting the stadium, not with Real Madrid itself.
The court further clarified that organisers of the concerts are responsible for promoting, planning, and executing the events held at the venue.
Judges also noted that the violation of an administrative environmental regulation alone does not automatically justify criminal prosecution.
Reacting to the verdict, Real Madrid welcomed the ruling and described the complaints against the club as “absolutely unfounded.”
The club also accused the complainants — identified as the Neighborhood Association of Those Affected by the Bernabéu and six other residents — of pursuing what it called an “instrumental” legal action.
“Real Madrid expresses its satisfaction with this judicial resolution,” the club said in an official statement released on Tuesday.
The Bernabéu Stadium has recently hosted several large-scale concerts and entertainment events as part of efforts to transform the iconic venue into a multi-purpose entertainment complex capable of generating year-round revenue.
However, the events have faced criticism from some residents living near the stadium, who have repeatedly complained about noise pollution and disruptions linked to concerts and late-night activities.
Despite the controversy, the latest ruling represents a significant legal and reputational victory for the club and its senior management.
Real Madrid also reiterated its confidence in the Spanish justice system and pledged continued cooperation with authorities on future matters involving the stadium and public events.
