Owerri, Imo State – Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has urged newly appointed members of the State Judicial Service Commission to embody integrity, unity, and fairness in executing their duties, describing their roles as a “sacred trust” for the judiciary and the state.

“Committed and Independent Judiciary Key to Democracy”

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House, Owerri, Uzodimma emphasized that a strong democracy depends on a committed and independent judiciary.

“Authority is entrusted to us by God. I encourage you to do what is right before God and in service to the people,” he said.

The governor highlighted that the law establishing the commission aligns with democratic principles and is designed to strengthen the justice system, ensuring fairness, accountability, and the rule of law.

Governor Uzodimma urged the commission members to remain united, stressing that every sector of governance requires oversight, but the judiciary is central to sustaining public confidence in government institutions.

“You have been appointed to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves and to guide the system in the collective interest of our people,” Uzodimma added.

On behalf of the commission, Barr. Louis Alozie expressed gratitude to the governor, describing the appointment as a “call to integrity, honesty, and strict adherence to the oath of office.” He pledged that the members would act according to law and conscience, undeterred by social media narratives or external pressures.
