Unidentified gunmen have killed the traditional ruler of Nguru Autonomous Community in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze James Nnamdi.

The monarch popularly known as Mmirioma was attacked and killed by gunmen on Monday.

The gunmen were said to have invaded his palace at about 3pm when he was receiving a guest.

The act caused a stir in the community as people scampered for safety.

Henry Okoye, Police Spokesperson said that condemned the murder of th monarch, saying that the State Police Commissioner has ordered investigation into the matter.

he wrote “The Commissioner of Police, Imo State, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde psc(+) has condemned in totality the gruesome murder of Eze Mmirioma, a Traditional Ruler in Aboh Mbaise who died while receiving medical attention at Ndubuisi Hospital after been shot severally in his house today by gunmen and has set up a high powered investigating team to investigate this case and ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law”

He also confirmed the other person, a chief survived and sources say he is taking treatment in an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
