17-Year-Old Girl Dies After Alleged Push From Two-Storey Building in Owerri

A 17-year-old girl, Chiamaka Chukwuokore, has died following an alleged push from a two-storey building in Owerri, Imo State, with police confirming that the suspect is now facing a murder allegation.

The Imo State Police Command said the incident occurred on November 1, 2026, along Mbonu Ejike Street, Ikeneagbu, Owerri. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Ifeanyi Chukwu Joseph, was alleged to have pushed the teenager from the building.

In an update issued on Wednesday, November 4, the police confirmed that Chukwuokore had died following the incident. The development has led to the murder allegation against the suspect, who remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, said investigators were working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that justice is served.

The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Audu Garba Bosso, expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and assured the public that a thorough investigation was ongoing.

The command also appealed to residents to remain calm, avoid circulating unverified information and allow the police to carry out their investigation professionally.

The suspect has not been convicted, and the allegations against him remain subject to investigation and the judicial process.
