Enugu Police Arrest 28-Year-Old Suspect Over Alleged ₦200,000 POS Robbery

Police in Enugu State have detained a 28-year-old man suspected of robbing a female Point-of-Sale (POS) operator of ₦200,000 at gunpoint in Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement issued in Enugu on Sunday, saying the suspect was arrested on October 18.
According to Ndukwe, operatives attached to the Udenu Police Division, working with members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group, arrested the suspect at about 12:26 p.m., following a report of the robbery.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 9 a.m. on October 17 at the victim’s shop along Old Orba Road, Uhulor, Obollo-Afor.
Ndukwe said preliminary investigations indicated that the victim raised an alarm as the suspect fled. The suspect allegedly threatened to shoot anyone who attempted to pursue him.
Police reportedly recovered a Beretta-like pistol and an expended 9mm ammunition shell from the suspect. Ndukwe added that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.
He said the suspect would be arraigned in court after investigations were concluded.
The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mamman Giwa, commended the officers involved and acknowledged the support of the Neighbourhood Watch Group. He also urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly to the police and other recognised security agencies.
The suspect remains an alleged offender unless and until proven guilty in court.
