Bauchi Political Clash: Man’s Wrist Severed in Machete Attack as Suspect Flees

A 24-year-old man, Usman Idris, has reportedly had his wrist severed during a political clash in Bauchi metropolis. The principal suspect, identified as Mamman Gore, allegedly attacked him with a machete before fleeing the scene.

The incident reportedly occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday behind Isiyaka Jibrin Quarters in the Bakin Kura area of Bauchi State’s capital.

According to reports, Idris was involved in a political altercation with a man identified as Lawi when Gore allegedly arrived with a machete and attacked him, severing his wrist.

Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the victim collapsed and lost consciousness following the attack. He was taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he received medical attention and was reported to be responding to treatment.

Habib also disclosed that police operatives attached to the A Division Township had arrested Lawi, who was being detained to assist investigators. However, Gore, the principal suspect accused of carrying out the machete attack, reportedly escaped to an undisclosed location.

The police spokesperson said officers had intensified efforts to locate and arrest the fleeing suspect. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu condemned political violence and thuggery, warning that the command would not tolerate actions capable of endangering public peace and safety.

The incident came less than a day after the police announced the arrest of another 24-year-old man, Abdulrazak Sale, over the alleged murder of 46-year-old Rilwanu Dauda in the Karofin Madaki area of Bauchi. According to Habib, Sale was arrested three months after the alleged killing.
