Adamawa Police Arrest 54-Year-Old Teacher Over Alleged Defilement of 10-Year-Old Girl

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 54-year-old primary school teacher, Garba Suleiman, over the alleged defilement of a 10-year-old girl in Damare, Yola South Local Government Area.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged by the victim’s family at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Yola South, according to the police.

In a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the police said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly lured the minor and sexually abused her.

The command said the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, had ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yola for further investigation and prosecution.

The police commissioner condemned all forms of gender-based violence and assured the public that efforts would be made to ensure justice in the case.

The suspect remains subject to investigation, while the police continue their efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence.
