Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush on loan, with an obligation to make the transfer permanent for £60m next summer.
The 27-year-old Egypt international is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days, joining a Tottenham side that has already made major moves in the transfer market. His proposed switch follows the arrival of Brazilian winger Savio from Manchester City for an initial £75m on Tuesday.
Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59m in January 2025 but struggled to secure regular playing time in a squad built around Erling Haaland. He made 62 appearances for City in all competitions, scoring 16 goals.
His opportunities became even more limited during the 2025-26 campaign. Marmoush made 36 appearances but started only eight Premier League matches, playing around 700 league minutes. He finished the season with three league goals and three assists.
The numbers suggest his problems were not simply about finishing chances. His expected-goals figure of 3.53 was close to his actual league goal tally, while competition for places and City’s attacking options restricted his involvement.
Tottenham see the forward’s versatility as a major advantage. Marmoush is primarily a central striker but has also played as a second forward and from the left, giving manager Roberto de Zerbi another option across the front line.
That flexibility could be particularly useful given Dominic Solanke’s injury problems and Richarlison’s contract situation, with the Brazilian entering the final year of his deal. Marmoush’s ability to move between positions and attack spaces could fit the tactical demands of De Zerbi’s system.
The move would also take Tottenham’s spending beyond £312m this summer. Alongside Marmoush and Savio, Spurs have brought in Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, Sandro Tonali from Newcastle and Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton, while Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have arrived as free agents.
