Fresh political controversy has emerged over President Bola Tinubu’s educational records after a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kalu Kalu, challenged the President to publicly disclose the primary and secondary schools he attended.
Kalu made the remarks on Monday while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today, following the publication of the personal particulars and credentials of presidential candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the ADC chieftain, Tinubu’s educational history remains a matter of public interest. He questioned why the President did not include details of his primary and secondary education in the educational qualifications section of the documents submitted to INEC.
“Come and tell Nigerians which primary and secondary schools you attended,” Kalu said during the interview.
He also referenced documents Tinubu submitted to INEC during the 2023 election cycle, alleging that the President listed a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate bearing the name “Bola Adekunle Tinubu.” Kalu questioned the origin of the middle name and went on to allege that the certificate was forged.
“Even in 2022, in the INEC document he submitted, he claimed he had a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate. And the name on that certificate was Bola Adekunle Tinubu. So where did he get ‘Adekunle’ from? He claimed he graduated, but the certificate was forged,” he said.
The comments add to the long-running political debate over President Tinubu’s academic records, an issue that has featured in previous election cycles and court proceedings. However, no new evidence was presented during the interview to support the allegations made by the ADC chieftain.
As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) had not publicly responded to Kalu’s latest remarks.
