The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has officially announced funeral arrangements for the beloved movie star, describing him as a man remembered for his warmth, generosity, faith and love for people.
Details of the funeral activities were released in a statement signed by Mazi Alex Oji Ekubo Okwaraeke on behalf of the Ekubo-Okwaraeke family.
According to the statement, the funeral rites will begin with a service of songs scheduled for June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Center in Lekki, Lagos.
The family said they had been deeply touched by the overwhelming support received from friends, colleagues, fans and well-wishers since the actor’s death was announced.
“The overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers, messages, visits, calls, support, and strength shown to the family during this painful period has been truly humbling,” the statement read.
The family added that Alexx Ekubo’s impact on people’s lives would remain unforgettable despite his sudden passing.
“Alexx was deeply loved, and your kindness continues to remind us that his light, compassion, faith, and impact on so many lives will never be forgotten.”
Describing the late actor’s personality, the family said he lived a life filled with laughter, kindness and devotion to God.
“Though his passing came far too soon, Alexx lived a life marked by love, warmth, generosity, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to God and the people he cherished,” the statement added.
The wake keep has been scheduled for June 17 at the family compound in Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu in Abia State.
His funeral service and interment will take place on June 18 in Arochukwu, after which guests will gather for a reception at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village.
The family requested that attendees wear white outfits to the reception as part of the celebration of the actor’s life and legacy.
They also appealed for continued prayers and support for the actor’s wife and family as they navigate the difficult mourning period.
Alexx Ekubo was one of Nollywood’s most recognisable actors, admired for his performances in several popular films and television productions, as well as his vibrant personality within the entertainment industry.
