Carrick Confirms Bruno Fernandes Will Remain Manchester United Captain After Talks

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has confirmed that Bruno Fernandes will retain the club captaincy following discussions between the pair over their recent disagreement.

Carrick said the club was ready to move forward with the Portuguese midfielder, stressing that he had no concerns about Fernandes’ commitment to Manchester United.

The development follows Carrick’s decision to leave Fernandes on the substitutes’ bench during United’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday.

The decision came days after Fernandes reportedly criticised Carrick’s tactics following the team’s Champions League defeat to Como.

However, the manager and the midfielder have since held discussions aimed at resolving the disagreement ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League trip to Chelsea on Saturday.

Carrick has now publicly confirmed that Fernandes will continue wearing the captain’s armband, praising his commitment to the club and the team.

Speaking to reporters, the 45-year-old said: “Bruno is fully committed to this football club.

“I’ve got no issues with that, we move forward.”

The confirmation puts the recent disagreement behind the pair, at least publicly, as Manchester United prepare for their next league fixture.
