Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that he is returning to his roots, announcing that his upcoming music will strongly reflect authentic African sounds rather than Western influences.

The awar dwinning artiste made this known during an appearance on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show with Eddie Kadi, where he reflected on his global success and future plans.

According to him, after achieving major milestones including sold out shows and multiple Grammy nominations, he feels fulfilled and is no longer driven by the need to chase Western validation.

“This part of my career, I have performed everywhere… The music that is coming next is very Davido, it is very African,” he said, signaling a shift toward a more culturally grounded sound.

Davido noted that his focus now is on creating music that reflects his identity and connects deeply with his African audience.

He also highlighted his strong fan base in South Africa, saying a large percentage of the population connects with his music, partly due to his collaborations and consistent presence in the country’s music scene.

In addition to his musical direction, Davido recently announced his first ever UK festival, “Davido and Friends,” set to headline at the iconic Crystal Palace Bowl further cementing his global influence.
