The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Borno State has taken a decisive step towards the 2027 general elections, inaugurating its Transitional Committee and Membership Registration Committee to reposition the party ahead of the polls.

The ceremony, held on Monday, 12 January 2026, in Maiduguri, drew party leaders and members from across the state, signalling a renewed push to strengthen the ADC’s political footprint in the North-East.

The event was attended by the ADC Deputy National Chairman (North-East), Babagana Buhari, who joined state leaders in formally unveiling the new committees.

Under the new arrangement, Alhaji Ali Wurge will lead the Transitional Committee, with Fali Wabulari serving as secretary. The Membership Registration Committee is chaired by Peter Biye, while Kolo Bukar was named secretary.

Several prominent party figures were also inaugurated, including Kashim Imam Matawalle, Nicolas Msheliza—a former Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly—Bulama Fugu, Attom Magira, Umar Alkali Nasco, Umara Kumalia, Tijjani Amadu Yarwama, Fatima Zarah, Mohammad Ali Jajari, Hauwa Kwajafa, Bukar Kachallah, Sadiq Mamman Gadai, Lawan Kolomi, and Babakura Abba Yusuf.

Addressing members at the event, Kashim Imam Matawalle called for unity and dedication, stressing that internal cohesion would be critical as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 polls.

Party officials said the newly inaugurated committees are expected to reinforce party structures, drive membership registration, and boost grassroots mobilisation, particularly in rural communities across the state.
