Peter Obi’s Campaign Convoy Reportedly Attacked in Calabar

The campaign convoy of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reportedly come under attack in Calabar, Cross River State.
Ester Umoh, a media aide to the presidential candidate, raised the alarm in a social media post on Wednesday, alleging that suspected thugs attempted to attack the convoy.
“Thugs are trying to attack our convoy,” she wrote.
The reported incident occurred shortly after Obi arrived in Calabar alongside his wife, Margaret, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, for a town hall meeting.
The alleged attack comes nearly two months after Obi’s convoy reportedly faced a similar incident in Benue State.
During that incident, suspected thugs allegedly blocked Boko Road near the Air Force Base in an attempt to prevent the former Anambra State governor from gaining access into the state.
Details surrounding the latest incident, including the extent of the alleged attack, whether anyone was injured and whether security operatives intervened, were not immediately available.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
