APC Campaign Council Says Opposition Criticism Won’t Weaken Tinubu’s Northern Support

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has insisted that criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration will not weaken his support base in northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A member of the council, Dr Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, made the assertion on Tuesday while responding to criticism from opposition groups. He maintained that the President’s supporters in the region remained committed to backing his re-election bid.
Kwankwaso said there was no reason for Tinubu’s supporters to panic or withdraw their support because of opposition attacks, insisting that the criticism would not change their voting intentions.
“There is no panic and no going back in our support for Tinubu. The criticisms coming from the opposition will not stop us from voting for him in the North,” he said.
The APC chieftain described the opposition’s criticism as part of political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 elections. He argued that such attacks would not erase what he characterised as growing support for the President across the region.
According to him, northern voters are more concerned about issues affecting their daily lives, including economic recovery, security, infrastructure development, employment and national stability.
He also claimed that the policies and programmes introduced by the Tinubu administration since assuming office had continued to strengthen confidence among its supporters.
Kwankwaso said the President’s supporters would intensify grassroots mobilisation across northern communities to explain government policies and highlight what they consider the administration’s achievements.
He urged APC members to remain focused on strengthening party structures, maintaining contact with voters and seeking support ahead of the 2027 elections, rather than being distracted by opposition criticism.
