Messi Yet to React as Ronaldo Announces Portugal Retirement

Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has yet to make a public comment following Cristiano Ronaldo’s announcement that he is retiring from international football.

Ronaldo announced his decision in a social media post on Thursday, confirming that he would no longer represent Portugal at international level.

The 41-year-old also indicated that he was bringing his international career to an end, effectively handing over the captain’s armband and the iconic No. 7 shirt.

His announcement prompted tributes and messages from across the football community, with several personalities acknowledging his contributions to Portugal and international football.

However, Messi has not publicly reacted to the development, despite the longstanding rivalry between the two football superstars.

The Argentine previously announced his own international retirement before the October international break, prompting a response from Ronaldo, who paid tribute to his long-time rival through his social media platforms.

Ronaldo and Messi have dominated discussions about football’s greatest players for more than a decade, winning numerous individual and team honours during their careers.
