Toluwanisings’ Father Gets Housing Offer, Daughters Promised Scholarships by Osun Politician

Osun Central senatorial candidate of the All Peoples Movement (APM), Ibraheem Luqman, has offered to provide accommodation for the father of late gospel singer Toluwanisings and sponsor the education of the deceased’s two daughters.

The gesture follows public concern over the living conditions of the singer’s father, Muniru Adekunle Olayemi, after images and videos of his home circulated on social media.

In a statement issued by his campaign organisation on Wednesday, Luqman said he had sent a delegation to Ikirun, Osun State, to meet Olayemi and communicate his commitment to supporting the family.

According to the statement, the philanthropist offered to relocate the elderly man to more comfortable accommodation within Ikirun. He also pledged scholarships for the late singer’s two daughters to support their education through higher institution level.

A member of the delegation explained during the visit that the accommodation offer was intended to provide Olayemi with peace of mind for at least two years, while the proposed scholarships would help secure the children’s future.

“Luqman asked us to visit you for two reasons. Firstly, he is concerned about your housing condition. He said we should find a comfortable place for you to live for at least two years, where you can have peace of mind,” the delegate said.

The representative added that Luqman wanted to sponsor the children’s education up to higher institution level and sought the family’s permission to proceed.

The campaign organisation described the intervention as a humanitarian gesture aimed at easing the family’s difficulties following the singer’s death. However, the statement presented the accommodation and scholarships as offers and pledges, without confirming that either had been fully implemented.

Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died in the early hours of October 14, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State, after reportedly slumping. His death generated public concern after his personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, alleged that efforts to obtain medical attention involved visits to several hospitals. The University College Hospital, Ibadan, said it had no record of the singer being brought to the facility, while the exact cause of death had not been publicly confirmed in the reports provided.

The singer’s death was also followed by disagreements among family members over his burial arrangements. His father reportedly favoured a burial at the house the singer built in Ibadan or beside his late mother in Ikirun, while his widow, Akanbi Elizabeth, was reported to prefer a cemetery or church ground.

The dispute attracted public attention and delayed burial plans, with relatives expressing differing views on where the singer should be laid to rest. The reports provided did not establish a final burial location.

Toluwanisings was survived by his wife and two daughters. At a night of tributes held in Ibadan on October 27, his widow reportedly broke down in tears and appealed to the public not to forget her and their children.

Luqman’s proposed support comes amid wider public concern about the welfare of the late singer’s immediate family, particularly his children and elderly father.
