Troops Rescue Six FUDMA Students, Driver From Kidnappers in Katsina

Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), and a commercial driver after they were abducted in Katsina State.

The victims were rescued on Monday evening along the Daye–Malumfashi road in Danmusa Local Government Area, following a distress call over an attack on a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina.

According to the military, troops responded quickly to the distress call and arrived at the scene while the kidnappers were still holding the victims. The pressure from the troops reportedly forced the abductors to abandon their captives and flee.

The six students and the driver were rescued unhurt, according to the statement on the operation.

Following their rescue, the victims underwent preliminary security profiling and medical evaluations to ensure their condition was assessed before further arrangements were made.

The rescued students and driver were subsequently handed over to designated officials for reunification with their families and the university authorities.

The military attributed the successful operation to the prompt response of the troops after receiving the distress call, highlighting the importance of rapid intervention in kidnapping incidents.

The operation was carried out under Operation Fansan Yamma, which continues to conduct security operations across the region aimed at protecting communities and rescuing people abducted by criminal groups.
