Court Grants Doris Ogala N30m Bail in Cyberstalking Case Involving Pastor Chris Okafor

The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted Nollywood actress Doris Ogala bail in the sum of N30 million over allegations of cyberstalking and other offences involving Pastor Chris Okafor.

Justice Akintayo Aluko granted the bail on Friday, November 6, 2026, imposing conditions that include two sureties who must each provide a bond of N30 million.

The court also directed Ogala to surrender her international passport to the court registrar as part of the bail conditions.

In addition, the judge restrained the actress from making online publications capable of exposing prosecution witnesses to harassment, threats or intimidation while the case remains pending.

Justice Aluko explained that the conditions were intended to balance Ogala’s constitutional right to personal liberty with the need to protect witnesses and ensure her attendance throughout the trial.

The judge also expressed concern over Ogala’s conduct during court proceedings on October 28, 2026, when she allegedly caused a disturbance that disrupted proceedings and forced the adjournment of 10 cases.

“By her misconduct and conduct in the open court, when she disrupted proceedings and caused a series of adjournments without any justification on the 28th of October, 2026, the defendant has exposed herself as a person capable of fomenting trouble when she is outside the courtroom,” the judge said.

Despite the concerns raised by the court, Justice Aluko granted bail subject to the stated conditions.

Ogala is also the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Abia State.

The allegations against her remain before the court, and the bail decision does not amount to a determination of her guilt.
