Dollar to Naira Rate Today, September 1, 2026: Naira Trades at ₦1,332 Officially, Up to ₦1,415 on Parallel Market

The naira is trading at different levels against the US dollar across Nigeria’s official and parallel foreign exchange markets on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, with a noticeable gap between the two rates.

At the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the dollar was quoted at about ₦1,332.44 based on the latest available official data for August 31. The Central Bank of Nigeria uses the NFEM rate as the volume-weighted average for the official exchange rate.

The parallel market is showing a higher dollar price. Recent market checks put the buying rate around ₦1,390 and the selling rate around ₦1,405, while some trackers have reported figures reaching about ₦1,415. That leaves a difference of roughly ₦60 to ₦80 between the official rate and some parallel-market quotes.

The official-market figures point to continued relative stability for the naira. Earlier data cited in the report showed the currency strengthening to ₦1,338.59 per dollar at the NFEM, with improved dollar liquidity and stronger external buffers identified as supporting factors.

Trading activity in the official market has also increased. NFEM turnover in the latest reported session rose by 16.43 per cent to $1.06bn, compared with $913.76m previously, although the number of transactions declined.

The parallel market picture is less straightforward because fresh quotes are not consistently available across market trackers. For example, the latest accessible Lagos data cited from AbokiFX did not provide a fresh August 31 quotation, meaning users should treat individual black-market figures as indicative rather than a single nationwide rate.

For Nigerians who need dollars today, the rate actually offered can differ depending on whether the transaction is conducted through a bank, Bureau de Change operator or another market channel. Transaction size, location, liquidity and demand can also affect the final price.

As of September 1, the indicative exchange-rate picture is therefore around ₦1,332–₦1,338 per dollar at the official NFEM window and approximately ₦1,390–₦1,415 in the parallel market. These figures can change during the day as foreign-exchange conditions shift.
