Arsenal’s newest signing, Christos Tzolis, has brushed aside speculation linking the club with Vinicius Jr, insisting his focus is on proving himself after making an impressive debut for the Premier League champions.
The Greek winger announced himself in style by scoring during Arsenal’s 4-1 pre-season victory over Girona, cutting inside from the left before finding the bottom corner. His confident display immediately caught the attention of supporters, even as rumours continue to surround Arsenal’s pursuit of another left-sided attacker.
Speaking after the match, Tzolis said he is not concerned about the club’s transfer plans and remains focused on settling into Mikel Arteta’s squad.
“I’m thinking how to improve and settle as fast as possible in the club,” he said. “It’s up to me to show my qualities and what I can bring to the team. I’m pretty confident that I will show it in the next games.”
The 24-year-old recently completed a £34 million move from Club Brugge, where he recorded an outstanding 51 goal contributions in 52 appearances last season. He revealed that conversations with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta convinced him that the Emirates Stadium was the right destination despite interest from other clubs.
