Barcelona have strengthened their squad with the signing of Brazilian forward Kerolin from Manchester City in a deal reported to be worth around £1.25 million, setting a new transfer record involving a Women’s Super League club.
Although neither club disclosed the transfer fee, reports indicate the agreement represents the highest amount ever received by a WSL side for the sale of a player. It also becomes Barcelona’s most expensive signing in the women’s game.
The move surpasses the previous English club record set when Liverpool received £1 million from Arsenal for Olivia Smith in 2025. It also eclipses Melvine Malard’s reported £850,000 transfer from Manchester United to Chelsea earlier this year.
Kerolin, 26, spent 18 months at Manchester City after joining from North Carolina Courage in January 2025. During her time in England, she played a key role in helping City secure both the Women’s Super League title and the Women’s FA Cup last season.
Barcelona believe the Brazilian international can make an immediate impact as they look to defend their European crown. Renowned for her pace, flair and ability to beat defenders, Kerolin is expected to add another attacking dimension to the Catalan club’s frontline, particularly in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The Spanish champions have undergone significant changes this summer following the departures of several key players, including Spanish internationals Alexia Putellas, Mapi León, Ona Batlle and Salma Paralluelo.
In a statement announcing the signing, Barcelona described Kerolin’s arrival as a major statement of intent.

The club added that the Brazilian joins at one of the strongest points of her career and possesses the quality, creativity and match-winning ability needed to help Barcelona compete for every major trophy.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have already reinforced their attacking options this summer after completing the free transfer signing of England forward Beth Mead from Arsenal.
