Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has shared an emotional update with fans, revealing that she is struggling with heartbreak following the breakdown of her marriage to estranged husband Bobby Maris.
The actress, who recently confirmed that her marriage had ended, posted a video on Instagram showing herself visibly emotional while spending time with a friend. In the clip, she admitted she was finding the separation difficult and joked that all she wanted was some suya.
“I’m going through heartbreak; I want to eat suya,” Ogbodo said when asked what she wanted, as her friend tried to lift her spirits.
Accompanying the video, the actress thanked friends, family and fans who have continued to check on her during the difficult period. She admitted she was exhausted from trying to appear strong, writing: “Done being strong! Thank you to everyone putting a smile on my face.”
Ogbodo recently confirmed the end of her marriage in a candid social media post, saying she had reached her limit after years of trying to make the relationship work. She questioned why women are often criticised for deciding to leave unhappy marriages, insisting that choosing personal happiness should not be considered a wrongdoing.
Shortly after announcing the separation, the actress disclosed that her direct messages had been flooded with romantic advances from admirers. While expressing surprise at the attention, she made it clear that she was not ready to begin another relationship and needed time to heal.
“It’s like all these men have been looking for a way to get to me… I’m not searching yet! Let me breathe first,” she wrote.
Uche Ogbodo married music artist Bobby Maris in 2023 after the couple welcomed their daughter together. In the weeks leading up to the announcement, the actress had repeatedly hinted that her marriage was facing serious challenges before eventually confirming that the relationship had come to an end.
