The Imo State House of Assembly has screened Hon. Longers Anyanwu following his nomination by Governor Hope Uzodimma for appointment as a commissioner in the state executive council.

The screening exercise took place on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Assembly Complex in Owerri as part of the constitutional process requiring legislative approval of commissioner nominees.

Appearing before lawmakers, Anyanwu thanked Governor Uzodimma for considering him for the position and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him if confirmed by the Assembly.

The commissioner-designate assured members that he would bring discipline, professionalism and commitment to public service while supporting the administration’s development agenda. He stressed the importance of transparency, accountability and effective collaboration among government institutions in delivering better governance for the people of Imo State.

Responding to questions from lawmakers during the screening, Anyanwu advocated result-oriented leadership and innovation in public administration. He maintained that public office should be guided by integrity and service, adding that the Uzodimma administration has demonstrated commitment to those principles.

Speaking with Assembly correspondents after the exercise, Anyanwu said he was prepared to serve wherever he is assigned if confirmed. He noted that he previously served as a commissioner in Imo State about 19 years ago, saying the experience has equipped him to contribute effectively in any ministry.

Anyanwu, who also contested in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Okigwe Senate seat, said his focus is to support Governor Uzodimma’s policies and programmes aimed at accelerating development across the state.

The Imo State House of Assembly is expected to conclude the confirmation process after reviewing the outcome of the screening exercise.
