Spanish actress Ester Expósito has publicly pushed back against rumours surrounding her private life, warning that she is prepared to take legal action against individuals and platforms spreading what she describes as false and defamatory claims.
The Elite star issued a statement on her social media accounts after weeks of online speculation about her personal relationships, including unverified reports linking her to Real Madrid and France forward Kylian Mbappé. Although she did not mention anyone by name, her message was widely seen as a response to the growing rumours.
In the statement, Expósito said inaccurate stories about her personal life had intensified in recent months, particularly on social media, and insisted the claims did not reflect reality.
“Over the past few months, and especially in recent days, false and defamatory headlines and information about me and my personal life have spread on social media, which bear no relation to the truth or to my character,” she wrote.
The actress described the reports as fabricated stories designed to damage her reputation and dignity, adding that she had reached the point where legal action had become necessary.
“These are absurd rumours fabricated with the aim of distorting a story between two people and insulting my dignity. Not everything is permissible, and this time I find myself compelled to put an end to this and take legal action against those responsible.”
Expósito also urged the public to be cautious about believing unverified information shared online, particularly on social media platforms, stressing that freedom of expression should not be used to justify spreading false allegations.
Rumours linking Expósito and Mbappé have circulated for several months, with some reports suggesting the pair were in a relationship before later claiming there had been tension between them. However, neither Expósito nor Mbappé has publicly confirmed that they are or were romantically involved.
Speculation intensified after Mbappé reportedly shared, and later deleted, a photograph featuring himself and the actress. The move sparked further discussion online, although neither party addressed its significance.
Spanish media have also suggested Expósito’s statement could relate to other rumours involving Mexican actor Alejandro Speitzer and additional speculation about her personal life. However, the actress did not identify any individual or specific report in her statement.
By announcing possible legal action, Expósito signalled a firm stance against the spread of misinformation, making it clear that protecting her privacy and reputation remains her priority.
