Afrobeats superstar Davido has surprised fellow singer Mayorkun with a luxury Tesla Cybertruck, reaffirming the strong bond between the two artistes years after ending their record label partnership.
The award-winning singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, announced the gift in a post shared on his Instagram Story on Sunday. Alongside a photo of the futuristic electric pickup truck, Davido dedicated a heartfelt message to his former signee.
“My gift to you. I love you #iammayorkun,” Davido wrote, while instructing an associate, “#babzii_chilling pls have it delivered 2moro.”
Although Davido did not reveal the exact cost of the vehicle, the model shown is a Tesla Cybertruck, one of the world’s most talked-about electric vehicles. In the United States, the Cybertruck is priced between $69,990 and $99,990, depending on the model and specifications.
Due to import duties, shipping costs and other associated charges, the luxury vehicle is estimated to cost between ₦200 million and ₦340 million in Nigeria.
Mayorkun, whose full name is Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, was signed to Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) in 2016. During his time with the label, he released several hit songs before leaving in 2021 to pursue an independent music career.
Despite parting ways professionally, the two artistes have maintained a close relationship, often supporting each other’s projects and publicly expressing mutual respect. Davido’s latest gesture has further highlighted their enduring friendship.
The gift has since generated excitement across social media, with fans praising the singer for celebrating one of Nigeria’s most successful music partnerships in grand style.
