Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has called on aspirants who participated in the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in the state to accept the outcome of the exercise and unite for the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.

The governor made the appeal during an expanded APC stakeholders’ meeting held at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre in Owerri, where party leaders, candidates, and stakeholders gathered to discuss the way forward after the primaries.

Uzodimma urged party members to prioritize unity and reconciliation, stressing that internal disagreements should not weaken the APC’s preparations for future elections. He encouraged aspirants who were unsuccessful in the contests to move beyond the primary process and work collectively toward strengthening the party.

According to the governor, the APC must remain focused on consolidating its support base across Imo State and the South-East region as preparations begin for the next electoral cycle.

A significant part of his address centered on the need for the South-East to increase its participation in national politics by supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next presidential election. Uzodimma argued that stronger political alignment with the federal government would benefit the region and enhance its influence in national affairs.

“We must work harder to ensure that President Bola Tinubu gets a huge number of votes from this state in the coming election as a show of gratitude for his support and goodwill towards Imo and the South East,” the governor stated.

Uzodimma also commended President Tinubu for supporting development initiatives in Imo State, noting that several infrastructure and social development projects were made possible through collaboration with the federal government.

Speaking at the meeting, the Imo State APC Chairman, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, praised the governor’s leadership and described the primary elections as peaceful, transparent, and credible. He urged aggrieved aspirants to accept the outcome in good faith and continue contributing to the growth of the party.

“In every political contest, there can only be one winner,” Onyedebelu said, while assuring party members that inclusiveness would remain a key principle in the APC’s operations moving forward.

Several aspirants who participated in the primaries also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the elections. Despite different outcomes, they pledged their loyalty to the APC and promised to support the party’s candidates in future contests.

Party leaders and successful candidates used the occasion to reinforce calls for unity, emphasizing that a united APC would be better positioned to retain political dominance in Imo State and deliver strong results in the 2027 elections.
