Residents of Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have received medical equipment, healthcare supplies, and financial support following the recent abduction of teachers and pupils that shocked the area.
The donation was made on Tuesday by the Director of the City Boy Movement in Oyo State, Olufemi Onireti, during a condolence and solidarity visit to the community. The visit comes weeks after armed attackers abducted several teachers and pupils from schools in the local government area.
Addressing community members, Onireti expressed confidence that the abducted victims would soon be reunited with their families. He said government authorities and security agencies were actively working to secure their safe release and urged residents not to lose hope.
“We have the assurance that the teachers and pupils will return in peace. Government is working tirelessly to ensure their safe release. We are here to identify with the people of Esinele and support the community during this difficult period,” he said.
He further encouraged residents to remain hopeful and prayerful, assuring them that efforts by security agencies and other stakeholders were producing positive results. According to him, the donated medical supplies would help improve access to basic healthcare services and provide relief for residents affected by the crisis.
Beyond the healthcare intervention, Onireti presented a cash donation of ₦1 million to the family of the late Michael Oyedokun, one of the teachers affected by the tragic incident. He also announced scholarship awards for Oyedokun’s sons, Abiodun and Samuel, to support their education.
The abduction occurred on May 15, 2026, when gunmen reportedly launched coordinated attacks on Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School; and L.A. Primary School, Esiele. The incident led to the kidnapping of several teachers and pupils and triggered widespread concern across Oyo State.
Reacting to the intervention, the Elesinele of Esinele, High Chief Tajudeen Abioye, praised both the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government for standing with the community during the difficult period. He specifically acknowledged President Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde for their commitment to resolving the situation.
While expressing gratitude for government support and assurances received from visiting officials, the traditional ruler appealed for faster action to secure the release of the remaining abducted teachers and pupils. He stressed that families in the community were eager to see their loved ones return home safely.
The incident, which also claimed the life of teacher Michael Oyedokun, has intensified calls for stronger security measures in rural communities across Oyo State, as residents continue to await the safe return of the kidnapped victims.
