Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has had a close relationship with his family since before he was born.
Davido made the revelation during a recent interview, recalling that Dangote has remained a trusted figure around his family for decades and has continued to offer him financial advice as his music career and wealth have grown.
The singer said Dangote’s connection to his family dates back to his birth. According to Davido, the billionaire even drove his mother home from the hospital after she gave birth to him.
Beyond the family connection, Davido said Dangote has consistently encouraged him to be careful with his finances. The advice, he noted, has remained the same whenever they meet, regardless of how successful he has become.
“Anytime I see him, he still tells me, ‘David, save your money.’ He’s been saying that since I was a baby,” Davido said.
The singer’s account highlights a relationship that goes beyond the usual connection between two prominent Nigerian figures. Davido, one of Africa’s biggest music stars, has often spoken about his family’s wealth and business background, while Dangote is widely recognised as one of Nigeria’s most influential businessmen.
Davido’s revelation has also drawn attention to the importance of financial discipline, particularly for young entertainers who begin earning large sums of money early in their careers.
For the Afrobeats superstar, Dangote’s message appears to have remained remarkably consistent over the years: success can bring money quickly, but keeping and managing it wisely requires discipline.
