A murder and robbery investigation in Bauchi State has led to the arrest of three suspects after police uncovered a stolen motorcycle linked to a deceased victim in Gwaram Town, Alkaleri Local Government Area.

The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed that the arrests followed weeks of investigation into a reported case of culpable homicide and armed robbery initially lodged on March 7, 2026. The breakthrough came when operatives intercepted one of the suspects in possession of the victim’s motorcycle.

Police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, said the first suspect, Alhaji Muhammad Umar, 25, popularly known as “Jijji,” was arrested on June 19 after being found with the motorcycle believed to belong to the murdered resident.

During questioning, Umar allegedly provided information that led investigators to two other suspects, identified as Usman M. Gidado, 45, and Danladi Yakubu, 35, also known as “Pagaj,” both residents of Gwaram Town.

Investigators say the case escalated after Umar’s arrest, prompting a follow-up operation that resulted in the detention of the additional suspects and the recovery of the motorcycle as evidence.

Police described the arrests as part of a wider effort to track down individuals linked to violent crimes in the area and dismantle criminal networks operating in Alkaleri and surrounding communities.

All three suspects, along with the recovered motorcycle, have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for further investigation. Authorities say they will be charged to court upon completion of inquiries.

Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the operatives for what he called “diligence and professionalism,” reaffirming the command’s commitment to ensuring justice for victims of violent crime across the state.
