Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has shed light on his recent meeting with fellow African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, revealing that both leaders discussed Nigeria’s current challenges and the future direction of their party.
The meeting took place at Hayatu-Deen’s residence in Lagos and comes amid ongoing consultations and political realignments within opposition circles ahead of future electoral contests.
Sharing details of the visit on his official X account on Sunday, Atiku described the discussions as open, sincere and focused on national issues as well as efforts to strengthen the ADC.
The former vice president said the engagement provided an opportunity for both men to exchange views on the state of the country and the role their party could play in addressing pressing national concerns.
“Earlier today, I visited my brother and fellow aspirant in the ADC presidential primaries, Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, at his residence in Lagos. Our discussions on the state of our nation and party were frank and productive,” Atiku wrote.
According to him, the meeting ended with a commitment to work together in pursuit of national development and political reforms aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
“We resolved to work together in the challenging task of reclaiming and rebuilding our beloved country for the greater good of our people,” he added.
The visit is being viewed by political observers as part of broader efforts by opposition leaders to maintain unity and strengthen alliances as political activities begin to intensify across the country.
Atiku and Hayatu-Deen are among the prominent figures who have expressed interest in the ADC presidential ticket, as the party seeks to position itself as a major force in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
The latest engagement highlights growing consultations within the party, with key stakeholders increasingly focused on building consensus and strengthening the opposition ahead of future political contests.
