Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially confirmed that he and American R&B singer Chris Brown are working on a joint album set for release next year, marking one of the most anticipated cross-continental collaborations in global music.

The Nigerian singer made the announcement during a recent appearance on the Swift Conversations podcast, where he spoke about his evolving sound and ongoing international collaborations.

Davido revealed that his current creative direction is deeply rooted in African sounds, with production driven by some of his longtime Nigerian collaborators who helped shape his early musical identity.

“The music I am making now is very African,” he said. “In this next project, I am working with a lot of my original producers from back home.”

While emphasizing his connection to African music, the award-winning artist also noted that his global identity continues to influence his work, hinting at more international features.

“However, I am still an American so definitely there’s going to be collaborations. Me and Chris Brown got an album coming next year,” he added.

The announcement further strengthens the long-standing musical relationship between both stars, who first collaborated on the 2019 hit Blow My Mind, a track that gained massive international success.

Since then, Davido and Chris Brown have frequently teased fans with hints of more joint projects, especially after Davido revealed in 2023 that they had recorded multiple unreleased songs together.

The upcoming album is expected to blend Afrobeats and R&B influences, continuing the global fusion sound both artists have become known for.

Industry observers say the collaboration could become one of the biggest Afrobeats crossover projects yet, given the global reach of both musicians.
