Nigerian socialite Cubana Chief Priest has stirred fresh political debate after claiming that federal backing from Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the reason Alex Otti has not joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alongside Peter Obi.
Speaking in a recent interview, the nightlife entrepreneur suggested that the Abia State governor is benefiting from strong financial support from the federal government, which has enabled him to deliver on key development projects.
“All of us dey support Asiwaju. If na lie, make him follow Peter Obi go ADC. All the things wey Alex Otti dey do for Abia na Asiwaju dey supply am with the funds,” he said.
Cubana Chief Priest described Otti as an “amazing governor,” arguing that his performance reflects not only his leadership but also the backing of the presidency. According to him, Nigerians should acknowledge the role of the federal government in supporting states that are making visible progress.
He further claimed that while many citizens publicly criticise the President, they continue to benefit indirectly through federal allocations distributed to state governments. He urged Nigerians to shift their focus toward holding governors accountable for how those resources are managed.
“Alex Otti is an example that Tinubu isn’t your problem, but your governors, because the same allocation given to him is also given to all the states’ governors. Y’all should hold your governors accountable; maybe then the country will be better for all,” he added.
Drawing a comparison with his home state, the socialite pointed to Imo as another example where government allocations are being put to effective use, reinforcing his argument about leadership at the state level.
The remarks come amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as alliances shift and conversations around federal influence, party loyalty, and governance continue to dominate Nigeria’s political landscape.
