Impeachment proceedings against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, have been suspended following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu.

The decision was taken on Thursday during plenary at the Rivers State House of Assembly in Port Harcourt, where lawmakers adopted a resolution to halt the process.

The Assembly had earlier moved to initiate impeachment proceedings at its first sitting of 2026, accusing Governor Fubara and his deputy of gross misconduct. Allegations included the demolition of the State Assembly complex and claims of spending without legislative approval.
