Governor Nasir Idris on Wednesday supervised the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congresses across Kebbi State, promising to work closely with newly elected party officials to strengthen grassroots governance and party structures.

The exercise was observed by top party leaders, including Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero, APC National Organising Secretary Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, and Kebbi State APC Chairman Abubakar Kana-Zuru.

Consensus-Driven Ward Elections

The governor visited selected venues, including Kauran Gwandu Primary School and Justice Ibrahim Umar Primary School in Birnin Kebbi, where ward congresses were conducted. Party officials confirmed that all 225 wards across the state held congresses, producing new ward executives through a consensus process.

“We will cooperate with the newly elected ward leaders to advance both party and government programmes at the grassroots level,” Idris said during the visit.

State APC Chairman Kana-Zuru affirmed that the consensus approach followed consultations with key stakeholders and complied with party guidelines. Meanwhile, Abdulmalik Mahmood, Chairman of the Ward Congress Committee, confirmed that the exercise adhered strictly to the APC constitution.

The congresses coincided with the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan, reflecting the party’s commitment to inclusivity and coordination with the local calendar.
