Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, has ignited fresh debate on social media after publicly criticising Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo over her comments praising single mothers.

The outburst came in a video that quickly went viral, with the Zazu crooner questioning Iyabo Ojo’s moral authority to speak to young people about marriage and family life.

Portable argued that, in his view, single mothers should not be held up as role models for the younger generation, suggesting that their experiences do not offer the right guidance for those preparing for marriage.

During the video, the singer made sweeping claims about single motherhood, alleging that women in such situations are more likely to have children with multiple partners—remarks that have since drawn sharp criticism online.

“Which advice do you even want to give to the younger ones getting married?” Portable asked rhetorically. “That they should be giving birth for different men? One child for one man, three children for three different men?”

His comments immediately sparked backlash, with many Nigerians accusing the singer of stigmatising single mothers and promoting harmful stereotypes about women and family life.

As of the time of reporting, Iyabo Ojo has not publicly responded to Portable’s remarks, but the incident has added to ongoing conversations about celebrity influence, social responsibility, and the treatment of single mothers in Nigerian society.
