Nigerian comedian and skit maker Zic Saloma has opened up about undergoing cosmetic surgery, revealing that the decision stemmed from long-standing insecurities about his appearance and missed opportunities in the entertainment industry.

In a video shared on his Instagram page, the content creator said he decided to undergo a nose surgery (rhinoplasty) after losing several acting and commercial roles because of his looks. The transformation, he said, has given him renewed confidence and comfort in his own skin.

“I decided to undergo nose surgery because I wasn’t comfortable with my appearance. I had lost several job opportunities in the past because of how I looked,” Zic Saloma explained. “If you can afford cosmetic surgery, do it. If it will make you feel better, go for it.”

The comedian disclosed that the procedure, performed in Turkey, lasted over four hours and also included a facelift and eye rejuvenation. He said the process cost around $11,000, but he didn’t pay for the surgery itself as it was part of a collaboration deal with the hospital.

Zic Saloma, known for his witty, gender-fluid comedy sketches and ability to play multiple characters, said the procedure was about self-empowerment, not vanity. He added that the change has made him feel more confident, camera-ready, and motivated to take on new creative projects.

His revelation has since sparked discussions on social media about self-image, beauty standards, and the growing acceptance of cosmetic procedures among African entertainers.
