Popular media personality and car dealer, Ola of Lagos, has debunked reports linking him to the ownership of the Skywise Group property recently demolished by the Lagos State Government.
In a video statement shared online, Ola clarified that he only rented a section of the building to run his car dealership and never claimed ownership of the demolished structure.
“I want to clear the air about the demolition of my car lot. I never owned the Skywise Group property. I only rented a portion to run my business. The Lagos State Government acted because some safety measures were not followed, not because of any personal issue with me,” he said.
The clarification comes amid widespread speculation on social media, following a viral video showing government officials overseeing the demolition of the property.
Several online commentators, including activist Deji Adeyanju, had accused the influencer of misleading the public by allegedly presenting himself as the property owner — a claim Ola firmly denied.
He explained that the demolition was part of a regulatory enforcement drive by the state government after structural and safety violations were reportedly discovered on the site.
Ola also urged Nigerians to verify information before sharing it online, warning that misinformation can damage reputations and mislead the public.
“People should get their facts right before spreading news. The government acted within its rights, and my business remains committed to operating within the law,” he added.
The incident has reignited conversations about building safety compliance and transparency in Lagos’s urban development, as the state continues to clamp down on structures that violate planning regulations.
