Nollywood actor Shawn Faqua has created history after marrying event planner Sharon Ifunanya Maduekwe aboard a moving Lagos–Ibadan train, marking Nigeria’s first-ever wedding ceremony on a train.
The couple transformed the coaches of a Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) passenger train into a breathtaking mobile wedding venue, complete with elegant floral décor, bridesmaids, groomsmen, and officiating ministers who conducted the ceremony while the train was in motion.
Celebrating the groundbreaking moment, the Nigerian Railway Corporation hailed the couple’s creativity and adventurous spirit in a social media post that read:
“From lovebirds to locomotives, we’re keeping things on track. History made — the first-ever wedding on a moving train in Nigeria. Proof that the journey can be just as beautiful as the destination.”
Videos and photos from the wedding quickly went viral, drawing admiration from fans and industry colleagues alike. Many social media users described the event as “cinematic,” praising the couple for redefining Nigerian wedding culture with innovation and class.
The intimate ceremony was attended by close family members, friends, and a few Nollywood personalities, as the newlyweds celebrated their love story while gliding through scenic landscapes between Lagos and Ibadan.
The event has sparked conversations about creative wedding trends and destination-style celebrations within Nigeria’s entertainment and lifestyle circles.
