Afrobeats superstar Davido has been admitted as a voting member of the Recording Academy, granting him the privilege of helping decide winners of the prestigious Grammy Awards.
The Nigerian singer, who described the development as “a gamechanger,” said the membership would allow him to play an active role in shaping global music recognition.
“I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season,” Davido said in a video message. “I am honoured to join the Recording Academy and look forward to voting.”
Davido secured his first three Grammy nominations in 2024 but left empty-handed. He earned a fourth nod in 2025 for Best African Music Performance with Chris Brown and Lojay on Sensational, though the award went to Tems for Love Me Jeje.
His latest milestone places him among influential figures whose votes determine Grammy nominees and winners across multiple categories.
The announcement has been hailed as another breakthrough for Nigerian and African music on the global stage, further cementing Afrobeats’ position as a cultural powerhouse.
