Singer-songwriter Simi has taken a powerful stand, urging legal action against the airport staff who leaked the video of Comfort Emmanson’s indecent exposure during her removal from an Ibom Air flight—calling the release an unacceptable violation of privacy.
On her Instagram Story on August 12, 2025, Simi emphasized that while Emmanson’s behavior may warrant scrutiny, the act of filming and uploading the unedited footage—without blurring intimate parts—equally demands attention and accountability.
“Someone recorded her being dragged off the plane, recorded her being exposed like that, and then posted it without editing out this exposure or blurring it out,” Simi wrote. She questioned why the person responsible had evaded consequences—and warned they “will face the law.”
The singer noted that uploading footage of a half-naked woman for millions to view—when fewer than ten people actually witnessed the incident—amounts to a separate wrong that should not be ignored. “You cannot condemn one madness and leave another one.”
The controversy centers on the viral video of Comfort Emmanson, a passenger on Ibom Air Flight Q153, who was forcibly removed from the plane after a conflict with crew over refusing to turn off her phone during takeoff.
Simi’s condemnation mirrors rising calls from civil society and public figures demanding humane treatment and justice equality. Legal experts stress that broadcasting a private individual’s nudity online—especially without consent—can violate privacy laws and even break cybercrime regulations.
By spotlighting the systemic imbalance—holding Emmanson accountable while letting the video leak go unchallenged—Simi amplifies the urgent call for equal justice. Her voice challenges society to act not just in response, but in defense of dignity for all.
