Fear and chaos swept through Federal Polytechnic Nekede Road on Monday afternoon, June 30, 2025, following a horrific collision between a motorcycle and a private vehicle that left the unidentified bikeman trapped under the car. Eyewitnesses described the scene as heart-wrenching, with residents and passersby struggling to pull the victim out from beneath the wreckage.
The accident, which occurred just meters away from the Polytechnic main gate, brought traffic to a standstill as scores of people abandoned their vehicles to assist in the rescue. Onlookers say the impact was so severe that the bike was completely mangled under the weight of the car, leaving the rider motionless for several minutes.
According to witnesses, it took a crowd of over 30 people to physically lift the vehicle high enough to drag the biker out. Many bystanders could be heard praying and shouting words of encouragement as the rescue mission intensified. “It was a miracle that he was pulled out alive,” one eyewitness told reporters on the scene.
Although still breathing when rescued, the biker was badly injured with visible fractures and deep cuts. Good Samaritans quickly arranged for him to be rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. As at press time, his identity and current medical condition remain unconfirmed.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but some residents blamed overspeeding and reckless driving, a common complaint along the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Road.
