Victor Osimhen is set to continue his football journey with Galatasaray after rejecting a massive offer from Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal, according to club president Dursun Özbek. The Nigerian striker, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan at the Turkish champions, has reportedly chosen loyalty and ambition in Europe over financial temptation.

Al-Hilal had activated Osimhen’s €75 million release clause in a bid to lure him to Riyadh, offering a deal that would have made him one of the highest-paid players in the region. However, the 26-year-old turned down the proposal on Sunday, signaling his preference to remain at the top level of European football.

Speaking to Hurriyet on Monday, June 9, Özbek confirmed that Galatasaray are deep in talks with the striker and expect a positive resolution. “Victor Osimhen is staying at Galatasaray,” he stated. “His affection for this club will be the most important factor. Negotiations are ongoing, and we hope to give you good news next week.”

Osimhen made a stunning impact last season, scoring 37 goals across all competitions and playing a key role in helping Galatasaray clinch the Süper Lig title. His explosive form reignited interest from top clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid and Manchester United, but Galatasaray’s aggressive approach appears to be winning the race.

The Turkish champions are now pushing for a permanent deal with Napoli, Osimhen’s parent club, with reports indicating an agreement could be finalized before the end of June. Galatasaray believe securing Osimhen long-term will bolster their Champions League ambitions and send a strong message about their competitiveness.

Osimhen’s decision to stay has sparked excitement among Galatasaray fans, many of whom see the Nigerian as the face of a new era at the club. His connection with supporters, along with his chemistry on the pitch with Mauro Icardi and Kerem Aktürkoğlu, has been crucial in his desire to remain in Istanbul.

With Galatasaray aiming to defend their league title and make a deep run in Europe next season, keeping Osimhen could prove to be their most decisive move of the summer. As Özbek hinted, the official announcement may be just days away.
